Owen Cutajar

Educated in Malta where he attained degrees in Computing, Business and Marketing, Owen also spent time at the Victoria University of Technology in Australia exposing him to the Internet well before real-time access was available in Malta. This shaped his appetite for innovation, technology and disruption from very early on in his career. He did his MBA with Heriott-Watt focusing on Negotiation and Influence giving him a strong commercial footing. He recently graduated from Singularity University in California and is also an altMBA alumnus.

Owen has a wide range of industry experiences through working with companies large and small. He has worked on projects with the Isle of Man Government, M&S, Adecco and Britvic; he has also added value to numerous SMEs, helping them identify and leverage technologies and opportunities that shaped and disrupted their relative industries. His specialisms include IT Strategy, Cybersecurity, Technical Architecture and Emerging Technologies.

Owen’s technical skills range from the mundane to the esoteric. His IT proficiencies range across Microsoft Enterprise Technologies including BizTalk, Sharepoint and Dynamics CRM, PHP, MySQL, WordPress, jQuery, Python and Open Source ecosystems. Cloud technologies including Azure, AWS & Google App Engine are of particular interest as well as software frameworks including .Net, Unity and Appcelerator Titanium. He prides himself in detailed understanding of online technologies and ecosystems and revels in learning new skills and techniques.


Owen is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the British Computing Society, a Certified Scrum Master and Certified Ethical Hacker, as well as holding a number of other industry qualifications. He is passionate about technology and is involved in a number of initiatives to encourage STEM learning and build communities of technology enthusiasts. He runs a number of local initiatives, including the Isle of Man Code Club, Talk Tech on Third Thursday and the Isle of Man WordPress User Group.
